A reversible plate compactor moves forward and backward without being turned around. It compacts thicker lifts of backfill than a one-way plate.

It is rented for foundation backfill, wide trenches and driveway or parking lot bases.

Extension plates widen the plate from 20 to 26 inches, according to the manufacturer. It needs a trailer to move.
